Adventures in the Galilee book by Yehoash Biber
By Yehoash BiberAdventures in the Galilee book by Yehoash Biber
Ten stories of life in the Galilee area of Palestine before 1948, when Arab, Druse, and Jewish farmers and bedouins lived together in peace and goodwill.
During the days of the British Mandate, the Galilee area of Palestine was as wild and stormy as the Wild West was during the pioneering days of the United States. The State of Israel was founded within the territory of Palestine in 1948, Jews had lived in Israel many years before that. They have lived together with their arab and druse neighbors, often in peace and goodwill. ...In the Galilee they developed good relations and common customs. The Jews learned to speak Arabic and grew to know the habits and customs of their neighbors, and the Arabs helped the Jews. In those days the mare, the rifle, and the dagger were part of daily life, as were the black coffee prepared for visitors, the adventure stories told around the campfire, and the unique water pipe of the Arabs. 'Adventures in the Galilee' tells about those days.
